Isolation of 2019-novel coronavirus

The authors used human airway epithelial cells to isolate the 2019-novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) and confirmed that it formed another clade within the subgenus sarbecovirus, Orthocoronavirinae subfamily. This is the seventh member of the family of coronaviruses that infect humans. Enhanced surveillance and further investigation are ongoing.
