Applications are invited for the post of Consultant in Clinical Virology or in Infectious Disease with a special interest in Virology at Barts Health NHS Trust.

This is a replacement post and you are expected to help in the delivery of clinical and diagnostic virology services to all hospitals of Barts Health NHS Trust (Royal London, Barts, Newham and Whipps Cross) as well as those organisations with a service level agreement with the Trust.

You will also be expected to be involved in teaching, research and training functions of the Department of Infection. Suitably qualified, you will also participate in in-patient and out-patient work.

You will be joining a department of 11 consultant colleagues, including five consultants in infectious diseases (four with dual accreditation in ID/Microbiology and one ID/General Internal Medicine), five consultant microbiologists (including one lead infection control doctor and one clinical academic) and one consultant virologist.

In addition, there is a consultant clinical scientist and an advanced practitioner – both in virology.

You must hold Full and Specialist registration (and with a licence to practise) with the General Medical Council (GMC), or be eligible for registration within six months of interview.

As a UK trained applicant, you must also be a holder of a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT), or be within six months of award of CCT by date of interview.

If you are a non-UK trained applicant, you will be required to show evidence of equivalence to the UK CCT.
